António Adauta, the Roman Mosaics Embroider
António Adauta was an engineering student in Coimbra that fell in love with the art of the existent mosaics in the famous Roman ruins of Conímbriga in 1990. It was then that the António began a work of adaptation of the patterns of these beautiful Roman mosaics for embroiders in Arraiolos stitch.  
Using pearl cotton on aida-sabric, crafting always the Arraiolos stitch, António handmade a embroider that it is placed between two glasses and a frame
The final is a great beauty result because capture the geometric arrangements and the combination of colours of the authentic Roman mosaics in an embroidery. Because the reduced dimensions of this handcrafted embroidery it can be exhibited in the walls of any space at your choice.  

The process of adaptation of the original patterns of the mosaics of Conímbriga for the embroiders of António Adauta collection was processed in the following way:  
In first place he selected the mosaics proceeding later to the chromatic study with purpose to reproduce, the more faithfully possible, the real colours of these ancient art.  
Secondly based on photos and posters of the chosen mosaics António made the master pattern of witch one, so it could be craft in Arraiolos stitch.
Finally, António embroider with the delicate task of reproducing stitch working resembling faithful the tesserae of the original mosaics.
This unique craftwork takes long about one and a half month for each embroider.

This is an innovation in a typical crafted work like Arraiolos stitch applied to ancient Roman mosaics is personal and exclusive and cannot be reproduced without the express permission of the author. All the master patterns in question have been registered in the Instituto Português das Artes e Espetáculos, the Portuguese authority for the intellectual property.

Each framed embroider has a label with the work's name an wax seal and will be accompanied with a certificate signed by the author.
